⚖️ RACE CONTROL

Your race control in Discord: drivers report incidents, appeal penalties or ask questions – in one click, in a private channel with your stewards. If you like, the bot brings the drivers involved into the channel right away.

WAS IST RACE CONTROL?WHAT IS RACE CONTROL?

Race control is THE GRID's steward system. In the dashboard you design a message with buttons or a select menu – the panel. The bot posts it in a channel your drivers can see, for example #race-control.

When a driver clicks, say, “🚨 Report incident”, Discord can first ask for the key details: who was involved, in which race, what happened? Then the bot creates a private channel that only the driver, your stewards and – if you set it up that way – the drivers involved can see. By default it pings your stewards at the same time.

The stewards handle the case in that channel. Once the decision is made, the RC is closed: the bot saves the whole conversation as a transcript and deletes the channel.

RACE CONTROL ODER TICKET-SYSTEM?RACE CONTROL OR TICKET SYSTEM?

Transcriptsunbegrenztunbegrenzt
💡

Faustregel: Alles, was die Rennleitung entscheidet, gehört in Race Control. Alles andere – Technik, Rollen, Bewerbungen – ins Ticket-System.

At its core, race control works like the ticket system: panel, form, private channel, claiming and transcript. The two run completely separately – with their own panels, channels, numbers and transcripts – and can be used side by side.

Race controlTicket system
Meant forIncident reports, protests, appeals against penalties, questions for race controlGeneral support, applications, requests of any kind

💡

Rule of thumb: anything your stewards decide belongs in race control. Everything else – technical issues, roles, applications – goes into the ticket system.

TermMeaning
PanelThe message with buttons or a select menu in the panel channel – plus all the settings behind it. How many panels a server may have depends on its plan.
Race control (RC)A single case, such as an incident report, with its own private channel. The dashboard and the bot call it “Race Control” or “RC” for short – for example “Close RC”.
InteractionEvery button and every single option of a select menu. For each interaction you set up its own form, its own welcome message and the roles in charge.
Form (modal)A window in Discord that asks for details before the RC is opened – such as the driver involved, the race and what happened.
RC channelThe private text channel the bot creates for each RC.
Drivers involvedMembers the reporting driver picks in the form. With the setting “Add selected users to the channel” they get access to the RC channel and can give their side.
Welcome messageThe bot's first message in the RC channel, with the buttons “🔒 Close RC” and “✋ Claim RC”.

ClaimA steward takes over an RC so everyone can see who is handling it.
TranscriptThe saved copy of the whole conversation. You open it in the dashboard.
Log channelAn optional channel where the bot reports new and closed RCs.

VORAUSSETZUNGENREQUIREMENTS

  • THE GRID is on your server – with the “Administrator” permission. The bot creates a channel with its own permissions for every RC and needs full rights for that.
  • You have access to the dashboard. Only the server owner and members with the Discord permission “Administrator” can set up race control and view transcripts. “Manage Server” is not enough.
  • A category for the RC channels, for example “Race Control”. Discord allows at most 50 channels per category.
  • A text channel for the panel that your drivers can see, for example #race-control.
  • A role for your stewards, for example “Stewards”. Optionally a log channel that only your stewards can see.
  • A free panel slot in your plan – the Free plan includes one race control panel, see Plans.

RACE CONTROL IM DASHBOARDRACE CONTROL IN THE DASHBOARD

Anmelden

Log in on the-grid.biz with Discord.
Pick your server
Under “Your Servers”, click “Admin” on the server you want. If the button is locked, you do not have the “Administrator” permission on that server.
Open race control
Choose “Race Control” in the yellow menu bar.
The “Race Control System” page in the dashboard
Every panel has its own card. Use “Create Panel” in the top right to add a new one.

The panel cards

The labels on the cards are currently only shown in German:

  • Name and channel – the panel channel is shown below the name. “#Unbekannt” (unknown) means the channel no longer exists in Discord. Open the panel and choose a new channel in step 2.
  • RC erstellt (RCs created) – every RC ever opened through this panel.
  • Offen (open) – RCs that are not closed yet, including claimed ones.
  • Bearbeiten (edit) opens the panel editor, Transcripts shows the saved RCs of this panel.
  • Löschen (delete) removes the panel after a confirmation – see below.

The dashboard only shows these numbers. RCs are opened, claimed and closed in Discord.

WIE VIELE PANELS SIND MÖGLICH?HOW MANY PANELS CAN I HAVE?

The number of race control panels depends on your server's plan:

PlanRace control panels
Free1
Lite1
Premium3
Plus5
Lifetime and Lifetime+100
  • Counted are all race control panels of the server. Ticket panels do not count.
  • Checked when you save a new panel. If the limit is reached, you see “Limit reached: Your current plan allows a maximum of … Race Control panels. Please upgrade your plan to create more panels.” and the panel is not created. You can keep editing existing panels.
  • Not limited at the moment are the number of RCs and the transcripts – in every plan.
  • You find the plans and their prices on the Pricing page; they are unlocked through Patreon.
💡

Tip: one panel can have several buttons or a select menu with up to 25 options – for example “Report incident”, “Appeal a penalty” and “Ask race control”. With “Specific Interactions” each team still only sees its own cases. You only need a separate panel if RCs should end up in a different category or be named differently.

EIN PANEL LÖSCHENDELETING A PANEL

Confirmation when deleting a panel
Deleting cannot be undone.

When you delete a panel:

  • The panel message in Discord is removed.
  • RCs that are already open and their channels stay. Claiming no longer works there – the button answers with “❌ Panel not found.”. Only members with the Discord permission “Manage Channels” can still close such RCs (with a transcript) or delete them with /rc delete.
  • The transcripts stay stored. The “Transcripts” button disappears together with the panel card, though – they can then only be reached through a previously saved link to the panel's transcripts page.
  • The slot in your plan becomes free again.
💡

Tip: before deleting, close all open RCs with the button. Bookmark the panel's transcripts page or save important transcripts (open the transcript, then use “Save page as” in your browser). If you only want to refresh the message, you do not need to delete anything – see Editing a panel.

SCHNELLSTART: EIN PANEL FÜR VORFALLMELDUNGENQUICK START: A PANEL FOR INCIDENT REPORTS

Speichern
Zeigt Schritt 6 „Alles bereit!“, klicke „Panel speichern“.

So siehst du genau, was deine Fahrer sehen.

In about fifteen minutes you have a panel where drivers report incidents – and the bot brings the driver involved into the channel right away. You will find the details of every step in the panel editor guide.

Prepare Discord
Create a category “Race Control”, a channel #race-control for your drivers and a role “Stewards”. Optionally, a channel #rc-logs that only your stewards can see.
Create the panel
Click “Create Panel” in the dashboard and enter a Panel Name in the top right, for example “Race Control”.
Build the panel message
A new panel is empty. In step 1, add a Text Display with a few sentences, for example about the reporting deadline, and an Action Row with a button such as “🚨 Report incident”.
Choose the channels
In step 2, pick the Panel Channel (#race-control) and the Race Control Category (“Race Control”). Both are required. You can set the log channel here as well.
Set up the form
In step 3, enable the form for “Report incident”. Use a User Select Menu “Driver involved” with “Add selected users to the channel” ticked, a text field “Race / lap” and a paragraph field “What happened?”.
Welcome message
Open step 4 – the editor inserts a template. Adjust it to your race control.
Add your stewards
In step 5, add the role “Stewards” and tick “Close Race Controls” and “Claim Race Controls”. Both are off for new roles.
Save
When step 6 shows “Alles bereit!” (all set), click “Save Panel”. The bot posts the panel in the channel right away.
🧪

Testing: report an incident with a second Discord account that has no steward role, and pick a third one as the driver involved. That way you see exactly what your drivers see.

GUT ZU WISSENGOOD TO KNOW

Details

🔢Panels je nach Tarif

Free und Lite: 1 Panel, Premium: 3, Plus: 5, Lifetime: 100. RCs und Transcripts sind nicht begrenzt. Details

🚪Everyone can report

Anyone who can see the panel channel can open an RC. You control who that is with the channel permissions of the panel channel in Discord.

📣Your stewards get pinged

By default the bot mentions the roles in charge for every new RC. You can switch this off in step 2.

👥Drivers involved on board

Drivers picked in the form can get access to the RC channel and give their side straight away. Details

🔒Always close with the button

If someone deletes an RC channel by hand, no transcript is created. The RC then simply counts as closed.

↩️No reopening

A closed RC cannot be reopened; its channel is deleted. The transcript stays in the dashboard.

🌐Language of the bot

The bot replies in your server's primary language: English if English is set in Discord, otherwise German. More

⌨️Commands in the RC channel

With /rc add, remove, transcript and delete your stewards manage open RCs right in the channel. Details

🔢Panels depend on the plan

Free and Lite: 1 panel, Premium: 3, Plus: 5, Lifetime: 100. RCs and transcripts are not limited. Details
